When to visit
The best time to visit the Cayman Islands is from December to April, during the dry season. This period offers warm, sunny days with low humidity, ideal for beach activities, diving, snorkeling, and exploring the islands’ natural beauty. It’s also the peak tourist season, so expect busier beaches and more visitors.
For a quieter experience, consider the shoulder months of May and early June, when the weather is still generally pleasant but less crowded.
The rainy season runs from June to November, with higher humidity and the potential for tropical storms, especially in September and October. However, the islands are less affected by hurricanes than other Caribbean locations.
How to get there
To get to the Cayman Islands, most travelers arrive by air or sea.
Owen Roberts International Airport is the main gateway to the Cayman Islands, located in George Town, Grand Cayman. The airport offers direct flights from major international cities, including Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta, Toronto, London, and seasonal flights from other locations. U.S. cities such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Charlotte have frequent direct flights, making it easy for travelers from North America to access the islands. European flights typically connect via London or seasonal services through Toronto.
Many travelers connect to the Cayman Islands from nearby Caribbean destinations. Flights from islands like Jamaica, Cuba, or the Bahamas are available with a short flying time.
The Cayman Islands are a popular cruise destination, especially for Caribbean cruises. The main port, George Town Port, in Grand Cayman, accommodates cruise ships. Passengers can take tender boats from the cruise ship to the port.
