Providing Paradise: A new In Residence by Pieter Brundyn home in Mexico
Last month, in the spirit of our mission—bringing the In Residence by Pieter Brundyn experience to the rest of the world—we announced our expansion into Mexico, a globally beloved tourist destination known for its unrivalled luxury experiences. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of officially inaugurating In Residence by Pieter Brundyn operations in Mexico.
The true uniqueness and magnificence of Mexico as a holiday destination is perfectly embodied by our signature eco-villa in Tulum’s Riviera Maya, Casa Nalum, as well as the local restaurant, Hartwood Tulum. Both villa and restaurant attach primary importance to family friendliness, environmental sustainability, and existing in harmony with their local and natural surroundings—all while maintaining the highest, most up-to-date standards of luxury synonymous with the In Residence by Pieter Brundyn experience. Both are immediately available to be booked through In Residence by Pieter Brundyn’s expert team.
Additionally, a must-experience for any culture-loving In Residence by Pieter Brundyn holidaymaker in Mexico is the colonial-era city of San Miguel de Allende, located in Mexico’s central highlands and host to a thriving cultural scene. The city is renowned for its baroque Spanish architecture and cobblestoned old town—at the centre of which lie the pink neo-Gothic Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel and the Templo de San Francisco churches, the latter of which boasts an archetypal 18th-century Spanish churrigueresque façade. More recently, the city hosted one of Mexico’s greatest artists, the muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros, and an increasing number of international artists—contributing to a vibrant art scene that persists today.
True to Mexico’s status as a culinary paradise, San Miguel de Allende is also the source of the best tequila in the world from Casa Dragones, as well as internationally-acclaimed Mezcal from Ilegal Mezcal. Where Cape Town offers wine-tasting, San Miguel de Allende boasts the Casa Dragones tequila-tasting room; needless to say, a trip to this historic city is a delight of the senses and comes with our utmost recommendation.
With the Northern Hemisphere summer now fully upon us, and with international travel slowly resuming to pre-pandemic levels, now is the ideal time to regain our lust for travel and new experiences in food, nature, and culture. We at In Residence by Pieter Brunyn are delighted to begin our Mexican adventure with you now; we are excited to welcome you to the shores of the Caribbean and look forward to broadening your horizons alongside our own.
Featured Luxury Villa in Mykonos, Greece - Villa Alchemia
With a breath-taking vista over the Aegean Sea, Villa Alchemia is one of the pinnacles of our Greek portfolio, with its archetypal white-stoned Cycladic exterior, large infinity pool, and spacious interior offering an experience above and beyond any other on Mykonos. Perched upon the rocky hill of Agios Lazaros and surrounded by lavender, rosemary, olive trees, and bougainvilleas, Villa Alchemia’s seamless integration into its surroundings is—as its name suggests—like alchemy. Capable of accommodating up to 19 guests at a time, this spectacular villa is defined by its tranquil interior—soft, minimalistic, and replete with all the modern amenities of luxury experience—and panoramic exterior. A mere 1.5km from the renowned Psarou Beach and 3km from Chora, Mykonos’ capital, Villa Alchemia has the distinct benefit of offering both proximity to the island’s lively social scene as well as privacy within the home.
Featured Restaurant in Tulum, Mexico - Hartwood
One of Tulum’s most renowned restaurants, Hartwood is a sustainability-first marvel of a restaurant, blending environmental conscientiousness with a progressive culinary attitude that can only be matched by haute cuisine restaurants. With its menu changing according to the daily local offerings of fresh sea and land produce, Hartwood’s dishes are all prepared on an open fire, using a wood oven and grill to produce forward-looking dishes that have their heritage in the Mundo Maya culinary traditions of the past. On any given day, patrons can pair slow-roast pork glazed in agave or local robalo fish with their signature house cocktails, such as the Spicy Piña Habanero margarita. With Hartwood’s commitment towards sustainable fishing and an off-grid, zero-waste carbon footprint, the experience of dining at one of the restaurant’s outdoor wooden tables is a must for visitors to Tulum—so, of course, reservations are encouraged.
