The Suite Life: Inside a seaside villa tailored to the cosmopolitan traveler
New York penthouse-style interiors, grand architectural design and panoramic ocean views – discover an ultra-luxe beachside villa that breaks all the rules. There are beachside villas and then there is Halcyon, the larger-than-life Bantry Bay residence perched against the mountainside with impossible views across the Atlantic.
Discreetly tucked just out of sight, the home presents itself dramatically as you cross the threshold, opening onto a grand living room in a palette of champagne tones, warm taupe and earthy mushroom, with oversized custom sofas and couches and backgrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass doors that offer an unbroken view of the ocean beyond (while also filling the space with natural light – as do the wrap-around clerestory windows that emphasize the statement timber ceiling). To the side, a kitchen equipped with state-of-the-art appliances, seamlessly integrated into the sleek joinery, while an expansive island offers the ideal space for informal family gatherings. Throughout the space, ceramic pots are planted with greenery, bringing the renowned Cape flora inside.
Leading off of the living room and kitchen, a spacious outdoor terrace complete with alfresco dining room and fire pit, which offers the best seat in the house for enjoying cocktails and watching the sun set.
The villa is cleverly designed to create two distinct living and entertaining zones across the two levels – the entrance level, with lounge, kitchen, sun terrace and guest bathrooms, is ideal for hosting while downstairs, a completely separate setup is reserved for more intimate gatherings and quality family time.
Take the stairs or elevator down a level and enter the private living area, decorated in darker, cocooning tones of charcoal, tan leather and bone. Leading off of the central living area, kitchen and bar, four king-size en suite bedrooms offer a high-glam hotel-style experience, rich in textures and layered to ensure the ultimate in luxury. Each room leads onto an outdoor area, either a private balcony or the heated pool and barbeque area.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an In Residence by Pieter Brundyn villa if it didn’t have that X-factor, and in the case of Halcyon, that includes an outstanding collection of contemporary South African art. From a showstopper piece by Kentridge in the top-level living room to a Tom Cullberg in the stairwell, a sculpture by Mia Chaplin in the hallway, and Gabrielle Kruger in the bedrooms, each work lends a unique character and charm to the atmosphere.
True to the In Residence difference, the journey doesn’t end with the key handover – in fact, that’s where it begins. For the entire duration of your stay at Halcyon, our team will be on call, ready to assist with any request – from private chefs and personal trainers to bespoke experiences and insider tours – you’ll feel like a local in our beautiful city. Given its prime location on the Atlantic Seaboard, Halcyon is both secluded while also being a few minutes from white-sand beaches and epic hiking trails around iconic Table Mountain.
